General Wisut Believes Phuket is Set to Host World Cup, Excelling in both Sports and Tourism

Phuket, Thailand – November 9, 2023 – Known as the "Iron Father," General Wisut Dechsakul is confident that Phuket province will be the proud host of the 2024 World Cup Weightlifting Championship, showcasing a seamless blend of sports and tourism.

The meeting of the Executive Committee of the Weightlifting Association of Thailand, led by Lieutenant General Intharat Yodbangtoey, President of the Weightlifting Association of Thailand, and General Wisut Dechsakul, Secretary-General of the Association, along with the board members, convened at the meeting room of the Phuket Provincial Hall (New Building, 4th floor) to oversee the progress of the preparations for the 2024 World Cup. Mr. Tawal Phetsuk, the head of the Phuket Provincial Office, presided over the meeting.

General Wisut Dechsakul, Secretary-General, mentioned that this meeting has led to a clearer roadmap, thanks to the excellent cooperation received from Phuket province. From venue arrangements to security and traffic management, including arrangements from the airport to accommodation and the competition venue, as well as medical staff and emergency vehicles for swift hospital transfers, everything has been meticulously planned. Importantly, the Weightlifting Association of Thailand will provide an opportunity for interested individuals to participate as volunteers in various capacities, with ongoing efforts to define the time frame and qualifications for applicants.

Furthermore, the 2024 World Cup Weightlifting Championship will serve as the final qualifying round before the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, scheduled to take place from March 31 to April 11, 2024, at Phuket Rajabhat University, Phuket province.
