Thai Weightlifters Shine at 2023 World Youth Championships in Mexico

In a remarkable display of strength and determination, Thai weightlifters excelled at the 2023 World Youth Weightlifting Championships held in Guadalajara, Mexico, from November 15 to 23. The highlight of Thailand's success was the outstanding performance of "Ice" Phattharathida Wongsing, securing 2 silver medals and 1 bronze in the women's 71 kg category.
Phattharathida's journey to victory began with the snatch category, where she lifted 92 kilograms, clinching a well-deserved bronze. Despite a challenging Clean and Jerk round, she managed to lift 116 kilograms, securing a silver medal and concluding with an impressive total weight of 208 kilograms.
Meanwhile, "Aum" Pawanrat Chatkaew, competing in the 59 kg category, exhibited resilience. Although she faced challenges in the snatch category, finishing at 79 kilograms, she showcased perseverance in the Clean and Jerk section. Pawanrat's admirable performance landed her in the 10th position.
The Thai weightlifting team, led by manager Mr. Somphp Kontong, celebrated Pawanrat's 18th birthday, expressing support and camaraderie. The overall competition witnessed a dominating performance by the host nation's Mariana Garcia Gomez, claiming 3 gold medals with a total weight of 216 kilograms.
Svitlana Samuliak from Ukraine emerged as a force to be reckoned with, securing 3 gold medals with a total weight of 214 kilograms. The Thai contingent, including athletes and officials, is scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport on November 22, 2023, at 2:55 p.m.
