Thai Powerhouses Aim for Victory at Youth Weightlifting World Championship in Mexico
The Thai Weightlifting Association is proud to announce the participation of two formidable female powerlifters, Ms Pawanrat Chatkaew and Ms Phattharathida Wongsing, in the Youth Weightlifting World Championship in Guadalajara, Mexico. The team, led by Manager Somphop Kontong, is optimistic about securing medals for Thai sports enthusiasts.
The Thai national weightlifting contingent, comprising Manager Somphop Kontong, athletes Pawanrat Chatkaew (59kg category), and Phattharathida Wongsing (71kg category), along with Lieutenant Senior Grade Saipin Detsaeng and Coach Chutikan Paljai, departed for Mexico at 11:40pm on November 12, 2023. They are set to compete from November 15 to 23, 2023. Mr Boonlai Chaimeereang and Miss Kasama Samphetcharoen , Thai referees, will also be part of the delegation.
Team Manager Somphop Kontong revealed that 297 athletes are participating in this event, comprising 162 male athletes in 10 categories and 135 female athletes in 10 categories. Confirmation will follow at the online team manager meeting on November 13, 2026. The Thai team is optimistic, drawing confidence from their athletes' performance in training sessions, aiming to make Thailand proud with potential medal victories.
In addition to the athletes, Thai referees Mr. Boonlai Chaimeereang and Miss Kasama Samphetcharoen will also play key roles in officiating the competition.
