Thai Weightlifting Team Arrives in Riyadh for Intensive Training Ahead of World Championship

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - The Thai national weightlifting team, geared up for the 2023 World Weightlifting Championship, set to take place from September 4th to 17th, has arrived in the capital city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The team touched down in Riyadh on the 31st of August, 2023, at 8:45pm local time, concluding their journey to the competition destination.

Upon arrival, the coaching staff wasted no time in getting the athletes onto the training grounds to ensure they remain in top physical form. Pattama Lamtem, the Assistant Team Manager, commended the host nation for their meticulous preparations.

Earlier, the Thai weightlifting contingent, comprising both male and female athletes, departed Thailand on the 31st of August, 2023, at 5:20PM local time, heading for the 2023 World Weightlifting Championship held in Saudi Arabia from September 4th to 17th, 2023. The time difference between Thailand and Riyadh is 4 hours, with the team arriving on September 1st, 2023.

The women's team, consisting of Siriwimon Pramongkhol (45 kg), Thanyathon Sukcharoen (49 kg), Surodchana Kambao (49 kg), Sanikun Tanasan (55 kg), Thanaporn Saetia (59 kg), and Suratwadee Yodsarn (59 kg), commenced their two-hour training session at the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Stadium to optimize their fitness.

Meanwhile, the men's team, featuring Thada Somboon-uan (55 kg), Natthawat Chomchuen (55 kg), Theerapong Silachai (61 kg), Teerapat Chomchuen (61 kg), Weeraphon Wichuma (73 kg), and Suttipong Jeeram (73 kg), will also undergo their training regimen at the hotel to stretch and relax their muscles.

Pattama Lamtem, the Assistant Team Manager, expressed satisfaction with the host's preparations, highlighting the quality of food and ease of transportation. The team's accommodation is conveniently located just 15 minutes away from the competition venue. However, they will need to plan their travel during nighttime due to heavy traffic during the day.

The 2023 World Weightlifting Championship boasts the participation of 719 athletes, including 354 female and 365 male competitors, vying for supremacy in weightlifting disciplines. The competition will unfold from September 4th to 17th, 2023, promising thrilling contests and exceptional displays of strength from athletes worldwide.
