Thai Powerhouses Aim for Victory at Youth Weightlifting World Championship in Mexico

The Thai Weightlifting Association is proud to announce the participation of two formidable female powerlifters, Ms Pawanrat Chatkaew and Ms Phattharathida Wongsing, in the Youth Weightlifting World Championship in Guadalajara, Mexico. The team, led by Manager Somphop Kontong, is optimistic about securing medals for Thai sports enthusiasts.

The Thai national weightlifting contingent, comprising Manager Somphop Kontong, athletes Pawanrat Chatkaew (59kg category), and Phattharathida Wongsing (71kg category), along with Lieutenant Senior Grade Saipin Detsaeng and Coach Chutikan Paljai, departed for Mexico at 11:40pm on November 12, 2023. They are set to compete from November 15 to 23, 2023. Mr Boonlai Chaimeereang and Miss Kasama Samphetcharoen , Thai referees, will also be part of the delegation.

Team Manager Somphop Kontong revealed that 297 athletes are participating in this event, comprising 162 male athletes in 10 categories and 135 female athletes in 10 categories. Confirmation will follow at the online team manager meeting on November 13, 2026. The Thai team is optimistic, drawing confidence from their athletes' performance in training sessions, aiming to make Thailand proud with potential medal victories.

In addition to the athletes, Thai referees Mr. Boonlai Chaimeereang and Miss Kasama Samphetcharoen will also play key roles in officiating the competition.

Phuket Rajabhat University and Phuket International Airport Fully Prepared for the "World Cup" Weightlifting Championship

The Weightlifting Association, in collaboration with various stakeholders, is gearing up for the 2024 IWF World Cup Qualification for the Paris Olympics. Taking place from March 31 to April 11, 2024, at Phuket Rajabhat University, preparations are underway with seamless coordination. General Wisut Dechsakul, Secretary-General of the Thai Weightlifting Association, commended the excellent cooperation received and highlighted Phuket's heightened enthusiasm for this significant event. The readiness extends to Phuket International Airport, ensuring a smooth welcome for athletes, officials, and judges. With well-planned transportation and facilities, the stage is set for this prestigious competition, four months ahead of schedule

General Wisut Believes Phuket is Set to Host World Cup, Excelling in both Sports and Tourism

Phuket, Thailand – November 9, 2023 – Known as the "Iron Father," General Wisut Dechsakul is confident that Phuket province will be the proud host of the 2024 World Cup Weightlifting Championship, showcasing a seamless blend of sports and tourism.

The meeting of the Executive Committee of the Weightlifting Association of Thailand, led by Lieutenant General Intharat Yodbangtoey, President of the Weightlifting Association of Thailand, and General Wisut Dechsakul, Secretary-General of the Association, along with the board members, convened at the meeting room of the Phuket Provincial Hall (New Building, 4th floor) to oversee the progress of the preparations for the 2024 World Cup. Mr. Tawal Phetsuk, the head of the Phuket Provincial Office, presided over the meeting.

General Wisut Dechsakul, Secretary-General, mentioned that this meeting has led to a clearer roadmap, thanks to the excellent cooperation received from Phuket province. From venue arrangements to security and traffic management, including arrangements from the airport to accommodation and the competition venue, as well as medical staff and emergency vehicles for swift hospital transfers, everything has been meticulously planned. Importantly, the Weightlifting Association of Thailand will provide an opportunity for interested individuals to participate as volunteers in various capacities, with ongoing efforts to define the time frame and qualifications for applicants.

Furthermore, the 2024 World Cup Weightlifting Championship will serve as the final qualifying round before the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, scheduled to take place from March 31 to April 11, 2024, at Phuket Rajabhat University, Phuket province.

สมาคมกีฬายกน้ำหนักฯ ร่วมประชุม อบจ.ภูเก็ต-เทศบาลนครภูเก็ต เตรียมจัดศึกเวิลด์คัพ

พลตรี อินทรัตน์ ยอดบางเตย นายกกิตติมศักดิ์ สมาคมกีฬายกน้ำหนักสมัครเล่นแห่งประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วย คณะกรรมการบริหารสมาคมฯ ร่วมประชุมหารือกับ นายเรวัต อารีรอบ นายกองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดภูเก็ต เวลา 14.30 น. วันที่ 8 พฤศจิกายน 2566 ที่ห้องประชุม อบจ. ภูเก็ต

จากนั้นเวลา 16.00 น. ร่วมประชุมหารือกับ นายสาโรจน์ อังคณาพิลาส นายกเทศมนตรีนครภูเก็ต, นายประสิทธิ์ สินเสาวภาคย์ รองนายกเทศมนตรีนครภูเก็ต และนายนิติ เพ็ชรประดับสกุล เลขานุการนายกเทศมนตรีนครภูเก็ต ที่ห้องประชุมเทศบาลนครภูเก็ต ชั้น 3 (ห้องเล็ก)

ทั้งนี้ เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมในการเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการแข่งขันยกน้ำหนัก 2024 ไอดับเบิ้ลยูเอฟ เวิลด์ คัพ รอบคัดเลือกโอลิมปิกเกมส์ “ปารีส 2024” แข่งขันระหว่างวันที่ 31 มีนาคม - 11 เมษายน 2567 ที่มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏภูเก็ต
